Wind & gusts
Wind reshapes crests and can erase tracks. Strong crosswinds increase fatigue and make regrouping harder. Reduce speed before exposed ridges.
Rain & wet sand
Light rain can firm some sand, but storms reduce visibility and create colder conditions. Waterproof layers belong in every vehicle.
Fog & marine cloud

Big, exposed sand
The Umpqua Dunes offer less shelter from coastal wind. Gusts can feel stronger on open ridges than at the harbor forecast point.
COOS BAY · SOUTH
Harbor cloud and sheltered pockets
Horsfall and Spinreel can differ from downtown Coos Bay. Forest edges may feel calm while open beach approaches remain windy or foggy.
